Suffix entry on community faculty  (United States)

I have a question about the suffix category on the community faculty page.  Currently, it is a drop down menu with options for MD, DO, PA, and RPh.  I don't see a way to make additions to that list.  We have preceptors who are RN, FNP, APN, PharmD, DDS, PhD, etc--and can't list those in this field.

My understanding of "suffix" is for correspondence it relates to Jr., Sr., II, III, IV--all those designations that go after a name.  MD, DO, PA, etc I would consider to be credentials above and apart from "suffix".  At least that is how these degrees are referred to for abstract submissions, etc.

I had just downloaded the community faculty data for a mail merge, and once I got into it realized these limitations and wondered if it might be possible to consider changing the suffix to relate to those surname issues and create a separate field for and expanded "credentials" list.  If that isn't possible, then can we just expand the suffix to include more degree designations.  When we are sending out correspondence, it is important to correctly identify people with their appropriate credentials after their name (some may be offended by our inadvertent mistake or omission).  I've just gone in and corrected this by hand on the mail list I downloaded, but it would be nice if we can find a fix in the system.  Thanks!!!

Re: Suffix entry on community faculty  (United States)

Please always put name suffix Jr., Sr., II, III, ... to the "First Name" field.

"Suffix" here is for credential only. We will change the pulldown box to a textbox. So you can put multiple credentials or what ever you like.

Does this work for everybody?
