APC  (United States)

Here's the APC deal as of 8/30/06....
It's going to happen, but nothing like what it looked like in the beginning. The insurance reqs knocked out most of Texas, and eventually the program office decided that we needed to concentrate on larger hospitals, with big insurance, who also serve the medically underserved. So all but a couple of our members will be in only 2 organizations. The money AHEC will receive on this project is also very limited (VERY) and by putting as many of our eggs as we can in fewer baskets, we can cut the monitoring expenses down considerably.
It also looks like we will be collecting a $500.00 per member program fee which also pushes us toward more affluent facilities.

Future APC plans for continuing the project???
Here is what I know...
I know that AmeriCorps has put more money into it and the awards for APC programs can be larger than the one we are currently operating under. The cash match requirements also go up, eventually to a 50/50 match.
The insurance issue can now be gotten around in some cases by using a fair market value matrix, but it is still a fairly high bar.

Re: APC  (United States)
I am working on an Americorps planning grant now which I hope to get. Americorps only requires that health insurance is provided for full -time members . According to everything I have seen, Americorps is not the one that dictates the specifics of the insurance. I think the Americorps concept is a great one. The challenge is finding the match, just like you said.
