Regular conference call date  (United States)

Debbie at the program office asked me to query y'all about a regular time and date for conference calls, i.e., second Wednesday of every odd month type thing.

Can we do this? Is this a good thing for everyone? If so, what days of the week should we shoot for/avoid?

Please think about this and respond here. Thanks

PE&S Conference Call minutes  (United States)

PE&S, CBE, iAHEC, et.al.,

Thank you all for participating in this morning's call. I know lots of this new stuff is challenging because it forces us out of our comfort zones. I can only speak about myself, but comfort makes me uncomfortable. I'm happiest in the eye of the hurricane, so don't think I'm flippant when I'm all ra-ra go team when the weatherman is predicting deep dookie storms, it's just my nature. When everything is clicking along without a bump in the tracks, that's when I'll have a face long as a Methodist mule.
Minutes and Action Items:

R&R VS PE&S-- We are going to work toward changing our focus from Recruitment and Retention to Practice, Entry, and Support. Instead of being " play-like recruiters" and doing only some jobs of regular recruiters, we will be doing what AHEC is already versed in, assessing our communities' needs, and facilitating them being met. In the area of healthcare professional recruitment and retention this means referrals and promotions, followed by community development towards retaining, and planning.

iAHEC Changes-- Reports are being processed even now and afterwards the iAHEC staff will be emailing us with any changes in format we might need to incorporate.
We proposed that we get some click-boxes in the activity sheets to better reflect our efforts; and a synergistic relationship between THM and iAHEC.

Texas Healthmatch System-- Some PE&S staff are still having some difficulty with using the backdoor to the site. They will contacting me via email, phone, or here, to either post their questions or set up personalized training. Please feel free to post questions and suggestions here in the forum because if you have that question, others may as well, and your suggestion might make someone else's job easier too.

HealthMatch events-- The first one will be in the Brazos AHEC area, in early spring to best capitalize on the graduating class of PAs. All PE&S staff will be invited to assist Brazos in putting it on in order to develope a best practices system to take back to all centers. Jason, Jill, Jim, and the program office will be discussing the fees involved ASAP.

Baylor visit-- Terri has set up a visitation at Baylor that should turn into a regular yearly event. Jason has a powerpoint from ORCA that he's going to send out that discusses loan forgiveness. When I get it I'll also save it up to the g:drive.

PA conference-- Shontel, myself, and anyone else who wants to assist will be promoting THM at the PA conference in Houston Sept. 21, 22, and 23rd. We will also do some THM training during this time wherever we can get web access.

Regular PE&S calls-- We will have our regular PE&S conference calls on the first Wednesday of every odd month. Our next one will be November, 1st. We agreed to be as flexible as possible should needs arise that would precipitate changes.

If I missed anything, please post and flesh it out, I know I'm a poor excuse for note-keeper.

Thanks again,

Jim
