I am curious if there is a place on iAHEC where a listing could be maintained of the various clinical coordinators we work with from the numerous programs AHEC assists with student placements.  The participant data worksheet really does not capture the information that is needed for the CBE coordinator. Plus there are changes in these contacts. Could it possibly be a drop down screen under resources? It would need to include the following:

  • Institution
  • Address
  • Department
  • Discipline
  • Contact Name
  • Phone Number
  • Fax Number
  • E-mail Address

A nice feature would include the ability to search for coordinators by institution, discipline, etc.

Benefits of collecting this information: ease in updating these coordinators when there is a change in the B-100 form,  (some schools have them complete the form almost a year before they are sent out on rotation.)or other AHEC practices, create mailing labels, etc. Also, this list would be beneficial to a new CBE coordinator in locating contacts. At one time the CBE workgroup was trying to maintain this list as an Excel sheet and forwarding to the group as there were updates.

Does anyone else feel like we would benefit from this resource?

I think it would be a great idea! I have an excel sheet with the coordinators on it that I use; however, when I get a request for a rotation from a student at a school or with a program I am unfamiliar with, it would be nice to have list to refer to rather than have to email all the CBE coordinators. My list is also old and probably could use a once over. Let me know how I can help.

There is a "Mailing List" module in iAHEC. I've created a "Clinical Coordinators List". Please follow these steps to use it.

1) Click "Mailing List" in the top bar and click "Members" icon.

2) You can select "Clinical Coordinators List" from "Mailing List" dropdown box or search by name, organization and city.

3) You can click "Add a New Member". Make sure to check "Clinical Coordinators List".

You can also send out newsletter or emails to all list members. Let me know if it works or not.

Mouyong,

This is a wonderful resource and definitely something I think the entire CBE group can think of uses for.

However, I would still like to have a resource that allows me to search for various coordinators contact information. For example: I may have a site that wants students that has never had students and I may want to send an e-mail to all of the PT schools within the state.  Or I have a site that only wants PA students from UTMB - who is the clinical coordinator for that program? It would need to be searchable by institution and discipline.  Or I may have a name, but no contact information for that individual.

I really see it as a resource for "established” CBE coordinators as well as new hires.

Debbie
